Gingrich: Voters doubt Obama's ideology, ability
September 09, 2010 12:54 EDT
PELLA, Iowa (AP) -- Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says he's confident voters will give Republicans control of the House this November because of uneasiness about President Barack Obama's ideology and his competence.
Gingrich spoke Thursday during a stop in Pella, where he met with business leaders. He planned three other events in the state.
Gingrich called Obama the most radical president in U.S. history and argued that voters are turning toward Republicans because they disagree with the president's views.
He also cautioned that excessive government spending could plunge the nation into another economic crisis.
Gingrich has acknowledged he is considering seeking the GOP presidential nomination in 2012. He's made repeated visits to Iowa, where caucuses begin the presidential nominating process.
